Tim Jupp receives Outstanding Contribution honour at StepFWD Awards

Some contributions to the UK Christian and Gospel music scene are public and celebrated as they happen. Others are built quietly over years, shaping the landscape in ways people only notice when they look back. Tim Jupp’s story sits firmly in the latter category. His influence threads through bands, festivals, teams and countless moments that have helped define the scene we know today.

This year’s Outstanding Contribution Award recipient for services to the UK Christian & Gospel music industry is TIM JUPP.

Many first encountered Tim during the Delirious? years, a time when UK Christian music was pushing into new territory. The songs carried across borders and generations, and Tim’s musicianship played a key role in that sound. But beyond the music, those who worked with him often mention his steadiness, someone who kept things grounded, paid attention to the details and made sure the work honoured something bigger than the stage.

When Delirious? ended its chapter, Tim didn’t step back. He built again. What began as a simple gathering in a Sussex field has grown into what we now know as Big Church Festival, which now takes place every August and continues to draw huge crowds from across the UK. This year it sold out at around 35,000 people, a milestone that speaks to both the festival’s reputation and the quiet persistence behind it. Its success didn’t happen overnight; it’s the result of years of patience, vision and a desire to bring people together through music and community.

There are giants on whose shoulders the UK Christian and Gospel industry stands. Tim is one of them. His work has given artists room to grow, given audiences shared experiences they return to year after year, and strengthened a culture that continues to expand in reach and confidence.

That’s why AStepFWD and StepFWD Awards honoured him with this year’s Outstanding Contribution Award. And in true Tim Jupp fashion, he didn’t see it coming. Thanks to Gareth Brocklebank – Big Church Festival‘s Artist & Partnerships Manager, for helping to organise and keep the secret. Tim’s genuine surprise on the night made the moment even more special – an honest reaction from someone who rarely puts himself in the spotlight, even when the spotlight is fully deserved.

The tribute video for the award was filmed and edited by Doug Ross and the Impact Point Films team, offering a brief look at the journey of someone whose impact stretches far wider than a single evening could capture.

Congratulations again to Tim Jupp. His legacy continues to shape the present and future of UK Christian and Gospel music, and the industry stands stronger because of the foundations he has laid.
