KXC Worship is based at King’s Cross Church (KXC), a thriving church in the heart of London. The vision of KXC is to serve God’s purpose to make all things new, by recklessly giving ourselves away to God in worship, each other in community and the people of King’s Cross and beyond. As a worship team, we help serve that vision by writing songs of hope and releasing music that celebrates the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
KXC releases Highlife Version of ‘Jesus Name Above All Names’ on 13th October “THE MIRACLE MAKING, CITY-WALL SHAKING, PRODIGAL CHASING, POWERFUL NAME OF GOD.”
They told us, “Our mission is to resource the church with songs that inspire hope, joy, and point towards Jesus. These songs are written for congregational worship and intended to benefit both our community and the larger church. This song in particular is an explosion of joy, hope, and life that will get your feet moving and your heart praising!”
“Jesus Name Above All Names”, is an upbeat song of hope, declaring that even though there’s so much injustice and evil going on in the world right now, there is one name that is more powerful and that is higher than all of that – Jesus. That whatever mountains, giants and struggles that we face, we can declare the truth that Jesus is above it all. He’s the Lord in the storm,” says Tom Eccleshall, Songwriter.
‘Jesus Name Above All Names’ was the lead single from KXC’s 2023 live album ‘Pull Me Through’. ‘For this new Highlife Version, they wanted to create an arrangement that honoured the diversity within their community and reflected some of the culture and heritage represented in the church. The music is
heavily inspired by West African Highlife, Gospel and African Praise rhythms – they’ve been leading this version at KXC and beyond and they absolutely see the energy and joy it releases in the congregation.
KXC’s weekly prayer and worship gathering, Seek First, was the perfect setting to capture our new ‘Highlife Version’ of this song, which features the up-and-coming London-based songwriter, Alice-Lily on vocals. The recording captured the electric energy and passion of the room, as well as the essence of the reimagined sound. They were able to record everything with our volunteer team and kept all the production in-house. It’s the sound of a church community coming alive in worship and discovering the joy and life found in unity.
