10 Weeks In, KUMBAYA Still Leads the Official UK Christian & Gospel Chart

Another week, another Official UK Christian & Gospel Singles Chart, and yes, it is still KUMBAYA at No.1.

Some people may still be catching up with the news that the Official UK Christian & Gospel Singles Chart is here, and more importantly, it is here to stay. Since its launch, the chart has already given us exciting movements, new milestones and proper visibility for the songs listeners are streaming, buying and engaging with across the UK.

Now, KUMBAYA by JERUB has spent 10 weeks on the chart, and its run has become one of the biggest stories so far. We have already seen three songs reach No.1: KUMBAYA by JERUB, VALLEY by Thiago and DC3, and THERE’S THIS KING THAT I KNOW by Chantelle Rutendo. Out of those, KUMBAYA has held the top spot the longest, with seven weeks at No.1, while VALLEY held it for two weeks and Chantelle Rutendo remains the only female artist so far to reach No.1, with one week at the top.

The top end of the chart has some interesting movement this week. HALLELUJAH (WORTHY IS THE LAMB) by Chosen Sounds and Florence Kisiwaa remains at No.2, while VALLEY by Thiago and DC3 moves up to No.3. THERE’S THIS KING THAT I KNOW by Chantelle Rutendo drops to No.4, but still holds strongly in the Top 5.

There are also fresh entries shaking up the Top 10. PEACE by Hunnid2Hebron and Deca Ota enters straight at No.5, while HOLY AND ACCEPTABLE by Chantelle Rutendo comes in at No.7. Both songs landing inside the Top 10 is one of the biggest things to note this week.

THIS GOD by Min. Adeoluwa continues to hold steady at No.6, keeping its place in the Top 10 for another week. ANCIENT OF DAYS / OPEN THE EYES OF MY HEART by CalledOut Music also stays at No.8, while COLE PALMER by Limoblaze, DC3 and Andy Mineo climbs back into the Top 10 at No.9. SON OF SUFFERING by Bethel Music and David Funk also makes a strong move, climbing from No.15 to No.10.

Another point to note this week is Chantelle Rutendo’s continued double presence on the chart. With THERE’S THIS KING THAT I KNOW at No.4 and HOLY AND ACCEPTABLE entering at No.7, she once again has two songs inside the Top 10.

Further down the chart, there are more new entries and movement. WILL BE DONE by Trendsetter Sense and Davis Jr enters at No.11, while RUACH HAKODESH (SING HALLELUJAH) by Chosen Sounds and Ngoni Rivete enters at No.16. O GOD WOULD YOU MOVE / AWAKE MY SOUL by Jesus Culture and KXC also re-enters at No.19.

Looking across the Top 10 and the chart as a whole, there is still a strong blend of sounds, from worship and congregational music to Afro-influenced and modern gospel expressions. The chart continues to show what listeners across the UK are streaming, buying and engaging with.
