Another win for Christian and Gospel music, and this one came from the American Idol stage.
Hannah Harper was crowned winner of American Idol season 24, but beyond the title and celebration, the moment that stood out was how she chose to respond. After the announcement, the tears, the cheers and the confetti, Hannah did not just celebrate the win, she turned the moment into worship.
She sang Chris Tomlin’s ‘At the Cross (Love Ran Red)’, surrounded by family and fellow contestants. It was not just another performance. It felt like a young woman using the platform God placed in her hands to point everything back to Him.
That moment says a lot, especially in a time where many people feel they have to hide their faith to be accepted in certain spaces. Hannah stood on a national stage and did the opposite. She let her light shine.
It brings to mind the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:14, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.”
Her win is a strong reminder to every believer, creative and artist that wherever God places you, your light is not meant to be hidden. Whether it is in church, in the studio, online, on television or before millions of people, the message should still point back to Jesus.
The finale also carried another strong faith moment, with Jordan McCullough finishing as runner-up after a season where he also openly represented his Christian faith.
This is why Hannah Harper’s win feels bigger than just a competition result. It is another pointer that Christian and Gospel music still has a voice in mainstream spaces.
