Acclaimed British worship leader and songwriter Tim Hughes has released ‘Make A Way (Live)’ , marking his first new solo music in more than a decade.
Released through Integrity Music, the new single was recorded live at Gas Street Church in Birmingham, the church Hughes and his wife Rachel planted in 2015 and where they continue to serve as senior pastors.
‘Make A Way (Live)’ was written by Tim Hughes alongside Brian Johnson, Jenn Johnson, Ben Fielding and Nick Herbert. Written with the local church in mind, the song speaks about continuing to trust God through disappointment and uncertainty, holding on to faith even when circumstances do not turn out as expected.
Speaking about the heart behind the song, Hughes said it was born from the space between faith and disappointment, and from believing that God still moves mountains even when life unfolds differently from what we hoped.
The song also carries something of Hughes’ experience over the past decade. While he has remained a familiar name in worship, much of his focus in recent years has been on planting, pastoring and building the local church. During that time, he continued writing, while walking closely with people through moments of celebration, loss, unanswered questions and difficult seasons.
That pastoral experience has now found its way into his new music, with Hughes returning to songs written not only for what happens during a Sunday service, but for the realities people carry throughout the week.
For many, Tim Hughes needs little introduction. He is the songwriter behind ‘Here I Am To Worship’, one of the most widely sung contemporary worship songs around the world, alongside songs including ‘Happy Day’, ‘Beautiful One’, ‘At Your Name’ and ‘Spirit Break Out’.
He is also the founder of Worship Central, a movement established to equip worship leaders and churches around the world.
‘Make A Way (Live)’ begins a new chapter for Hughes as a solo artist and also sees him reunited with Integrity Music, with more of his songwriting once again coming out of the intersection between worship, pastoral ministry and life in the local church.
