In last week’s Thursday Thought, I shared how Ecclesiastes 3:1–11 became one of the most significant passages of Scripture in my life. I also recalled how, at the age of 21, I wrote a song with my mother, Pastor Brenda, a song that was later recorded but eventually lost.
This week, I want to share how that recording resurfaced after 35 years, at a time when I was beginning to step out of trauma and into hope, and how its rediscovery brought a deeper understanding of God’s timing and purpose in my own journey.

But, as an opportunity opened up in Nashville, and my life began to step out of trauma and into hope, the song recording reappeared out of nowhere on a CD about 35 years after its time. My Mum had found it, and we still don’t know how. But as we played the song, those scriptural words of truth filled the room, and an anointing so strong touched each one of us there.
I realised as I listened and surrendered that this song was a prophetic insight into my own journey and my own story, given ahead of all that was to come as an anchor through the storms. I didn’t know it, but what I believed I’d written as a profound truth for the questioning and the unsaved was actually for me as much as anyone. How amazing!! I was awed and stunned!
Writing the song prophetically in my own life, ahead of any of the future things to come, was now something that not only compounded the truth of the Scripture but also underlined God’s grace, timing and planning. Wow!
The song went on to open some doors in Nashville and spill out God’s power and anointing onto audiences, but this truth, brought by the Spirit, also opened up hurting hearts and brought revelation demonstrated by the release of emotion.
Yes, there is something universally true about these words in Ecclesiastes that seems to awaken something that is already planted in our hearts and minds. It’s like a key… it unlocks a ‘knowing’ that we already have within our being. That is indeed the “He planted eternity in our minds” that the Scripture explicitly says.
The verses that follow go on to explain what the seasons are and how there are opposite seasons that, when you read into them, do not coexist. This brings an understanding of balance, purpose and meaning. So this is not meant as a sermon or a Bible study, but a revelation of the overarching certainty that we can extract: that God is sovereign, omnipotent and yet concerned with the seasonal and cyclical details of our lives.
Here’s what we should learn: God knows the beginning from the end. He is the Alpha and Omega, the orchestrator of time and eternity, and everything under the heavens has purpose.
It says God is in charge!
This verse brings comfort and hope and a deeper truth that nothing we encounter or experience is in vain.
So next time you are caught off guard and someone asks you which Bible verse carries the most meaning for your life, it may be that this verse (or these verses) may also find a profound place in your heart too. Faith, trust and hope all come from knowing that seasons are not permanent, trials carry purpose, and God is ultimately in control of time.
These verses, now revived in their sense of meaning for my life, have brought stability, peace and surrender in times when none of these were naturally present during trials and challenges. Like many other verses of Scripture too, these words have become an anchor, a handrail and a light in difficult days of uncertainty.
You may want to read all the verses in Ecclesiastes 3:1–11 and take heart for all seasons of your life, but I also bring a gift to you before I close. Below is the song “There’s a Time” that I wrote at 21. A song given supernaturally and carrying a divine revelation of time and purpose. This is the original analogue recording from the early 90s, but with visuals added in 2025.
I hope and pray it resonates with you, and please share it with others who may be looking for this same revelation.
Lyric quote: “… and have you wondered too what life’s all about, why there’s sometimes peace, sometimes strife?”
We are all looking for the reasons and working through the seasons of life… and here there may just be the solace and assurance that God intended!
Be blessed!
