Sarah Teibo releases charity Christmas single for ‘Kids of Lockdown’

Did you know that nearly 70% of new parents felt the changes brought about by COVID-19 were affecting their unborn baby, new-born or young child? This gets amplified if the baby arrives prematurely, putting further strain on ill-prepared new parents. The ‘Babies in Lockdown’ report, published earlier this year by charities Best Beginnings, Home-Start UK and the Parent-Infant Foundation, left no doubt that 2020 has been a tough year for many parents and their children.

Inspired to bring ‘a spark of hope for the kids of Lockdown’, London-based multi-award winning Gospel singer and songwriter, Sarah Téibo is determined to help individuals, families and communities have a special Christmas this year, with the release of her first-ever Christmas single ‘Hear the Sound’.

She releases the Charity single in aid of Colourful Beginnings, a UK charity which provides families with babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) across the country with support, as well mini Care Packages to help them begin caring for their new born premature babies. They plan on making these Care Packages available across the UK, to premature babies born over the Christmas season and 50% of proceeds from the sale of the single will go towards helping them achieve this.

About the project, the singer says, “2020 has been a really tough year for children and families with young children, and in particular for families with premature babies. Covid restrictions have resulted in the absence of hands-on prenatal and postnatal care, as well as family networks for vital support, thus making this season quite stressful for young families. I’m hoping this single will not only help raise awareness of these issues, but also raise more funds to help Colourful Beginnings continue with the great work they are already doing”.

Colourful Beginnings’ CEO and winner of Tommy’s Awards ‘Inspirational Mum of the Year 2019’, Ola Adegbenro, says, “We are delighted that Sarah is so generously supporting children and their families through the sale of her Christmas single ‘Hear the Sound’ and has chosen our charity to collaborate with. Being a parent of two children born prematurely, I know first-hand the challenges faced by the families we support.”

Ola continued, “The song is filled with so much joy and hope; a perfect way to wrap up what has been a very difficult year for many. Funds raised from this single will enable us reach more families with babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with our Care Packages throughout Christmas and into the New Year.”

‘Hear the Sound’ will be available for preorder from 4th December and for download from 18th December. Access links to an exclusive virtual Christmas Carol also hosted by Sarah Téibo as part of her wider Christmas campaign can be reserved here.
