Charity Gayle Releases New Album ‘His Name Shall Be’

American worship singer and songwriter Charity Gayle, known for songs including ‘I Speak Jesus’ and ‘Thank You Jesus for the Blood’, has released her new album, “His Name Shall Be”, ahead of the Christmas season. The 13-track project brings together traditional Christmas hymns and original worship songs celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

Released on 23 October, the album runs for one hour and one minute and was recorded live at Dry Creek Gathering in Magnolia, Texas. With Christmas still weeks away, Charity is getting listeners into the spirit of the season early, bringing back familiar hymns such as ‘Hark! The Herald Angels Sing’ and ‘O Come All Ye Faithful’, alongside new songs of worship.

From the opening track to the closing song, the album follows the story of Jesus, from His birth to His death and resurrection, and the promise of His return as King. These are central to the Christian faith and the reason behind the celebration of Christmas. Throughout the album, listeners will also recognise familiar Christmas melodies, lyrics and sounds woven into the worship arrangements.

For Charity, this album has been four years in the making. Sharing the news on Instagram, she wrote:

“My new Christmas worship album is finally here! Guys, this is my favorite album I’ve done yet and what started four years ago as a vision to resource the church has flourished into a collection of songs that I love and hope you will sing with so much joy!”

The album takes its name from Isaiah 9:6, which speaks of Jesus as Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace. The songs celebrate His birth while also speaking about the hope and salvation He brings.

Charity ended her Instagram message with an invitation to the church, writing, “Church, let’s repeat the sounding joy together!” The words also point to ‘Repeat The Sounding Joy’, which happens to be the opening track of the album.

With “His Name Shall Be”, Charity Gayle has given churches and worshippers a collection of songs to enjoy in the lead-up to Christmas, combining familiar hymns with new worship songs that tell the story of Jesus and the reason for His coming.
