What is the point of gaining everything the world has to offer if, in the end, it amounts to nothing? This question lies at the heart of ‘Meaningless’, the latest release from South London Christian artist R-Scar, accompanied by his first-ever official music video.
Inspired by the biblical book of Ecclesiastes, the single confronts the pursuit of success, relationships, pleasure and personal fulfilment, asking whether earthly achievements can truly satisfy the soul or hold lasting significance beyond this life.
Rather than leaving listeners in hopelessness, R-Scar points towards Jesus Christ as the source of genuine purpose and eternal hope.
A VISUAL REFLECTION ON ETERNITY
Directed and shot by filmmaker Karl Chiketa under his creative company IKNO, the music video brings the song’s message to life, exploring purpose, mortality and the distractions that can keep us from what matters most. Reflecting on his own journey, R-Scar shares in the visual:
“I was way too comfortable being comfortable; I let time slip away, thinking this was all God could do with me.”
He describes overcoming the fears that held him back from using his God-given gifts, concluding: “Bowing before God means that I can stand before any man. Adversity always lies in the path of advancement.”
Together, the single and visual invite listeners to look beyond temporary fulfilment and consider what they are ultimately living for.
