UK singer-songwriter Juliet Dawn returns with ‘Blown Away’, a heartfelt song built around the wonder of God’s love.
Sharing the story behind the song, Juliet said ‘Blown Away’ came together in early 2025 while she and her mum were preparing for a recording trip to Nashville. With Castle Recording Studio in Tennessee already booked for a five-week project, the pair sat around the piano in the back room of her mum’s bungalow in Cornwall, working through new ideas.
According to Juliet, the first idea for ‘Blown Away’ came from her mum. As the early version began to take shape, Juliet was drawn into the song and started helping with the melody, arrangement and lyrics. That process eventually led to the memorable “YES IT DOES” hook.
Juliet also shared that the song took another turn later in Nashville during production with producer Billy Smiley. On the band recording day, she felt the song needed a different key and a stronger lift into the chorus. After stepping out briefly with the keyboard player, they created an unusual key change that added another dynamic to the final production.
At its heart, ‘Blown Away’ is a song about love, steadfast, uplifting and sustaining love. For Juliet, it speaks of God’s love, the kind of love that makes her say, “Your love blows me away.”
