EVENT REVIEW: Big Church Night In with Tim & The Glory Boys and Philippa Hanna

Tim & The Glory Boys and Philippa Hanna led a fun-filled worship hoedown in Bournemouth this Saturday on the Big Church Night In tour.

Opening the night with her trusty guitar alongside husband Joel Cana on percussion, Philippa had the audience warming up their ‘yee-haws’ from the very first song, ‘Off the Wagon’. The worship continued with other firm fan favourites including ‘Speed of Light’ and the more recent ‘None Like Jehovah’. We were also treated to a debut performance of her new song ‘Let the Body Sing’, celebrating the amazing power of the body of Christ singing together. Indeed, Philippa had everyone standing and singing the chorus of ‘Hallelujah’, embodying the spirit of the song.

The country hoedown-style worship that Philippa started was continued by Tim & The Glory Boys – including Joshua on drums, who is the newest member having had only a week’s notice to join the tour after another band member dropped out. You would never know the quick turnaround by the cohesion of the band’s performance, though, as they performed a selection of their original songs, including ‘Heavensville’, ‘Bloodlines’ and ‘Heaven’s Got a Dirt Road’.

Tim & The Glory Boys then created a cosy campfire atmosphere and led a time of worship in their iconic style, with songs ranging from Graham Kendrick’s ‘Shine Jesus Shine’ to Cece Winans’ ‘Goodness of God’ and concluding with the classic hymn ‘How Great Thou Art’.

They finished the night with a fun rendition of ‘Float’, featuring giant floats, inflatable beach balls and audience participation that left everyone on a high.
