‘Prayer’, the new release by Xade featuring Greatman Takit and Energise Music, is an uplifting Afro-gospel song that brings a refreshing balance of experienced and youthful voices together.
At only 11 years old, Xade is a young Nigerian artist already showing maturity in his artistry, singing, rapping and even co-producing this new song.
Already showcasing depth in his lyricism, words such as “You see the tears before they ever fall. You’re leaning in before I even call” and “You didn’t move the mountain, but You gave me strength to climb it” call us to trust in the God who sees us and leads us through difficult seasons.
The song features Greatman Takit, popularly known as the Melody Man, an established voice in the Nigerian gospel scene widely known for songs such as ‘Look What You’ve Done’, ‘Holy Spirit’, ‘Commando’ and his standout collaboration with Lawrence Oyor on ‘Jugular Jugular’. He also delivers a solid reminder to wait on God and lean not on our own understanding.
The catchy song reminds us of the unchanging nature of God’s promises and timing, delivered strongly in the chorus, which is the stand-out part of the song for me.
It is exciting to see and hear what is emerging from the youth of Nigeria and Africa, as Afro-gospel continues to grow globally.
‘Prayer’ by Xade featuring Greatman Takit is available now on streaming platforms.
