Mr. K is a Spoken Word Hip Hop artist raised in London but now residing in Birmingham. Fusing spoken word with musical genres ranging from Hip Hop, Jazz and Soul, Mr. K creates music that explores the intersections of faith, identity and purpose.
Just submitted to the UK Christian Chart is the official music video for ‘SBDAR’ – the second single taken from Mr. K’s album, “Between Dreams And Reality”. Produced by JAI’O of the production-quartet The K.Collective, this track is a meeting of spoken word with an aggressive hip hop production to deliver an impactful message. SBDAR captures the turbulent feeling of being somewhere between where we want to be and where we currently are. It’s an encouragement to push forward past the internal and external challenges to make those dreams a reality.
Over the past decade his music has placed him on multiple stages. Career highlights include touring Japan (2015, 2016), being published in the Alperton Community School National Poetry Day Anthology (2016), speaking and performing at the UCL organised event, Making Sacred Space at Tate Modern (2017) and crafting music for the anti-racism campaign Let’s Talk About Racism (2020) and the NHS mental health campaign #YouveBeenMissed (2020), both of which were launched in schools across the UK.
His two albums to date, “My Great Transition” (2014) and “Between Dreams And Reality” (2019) take listeners on musically engaging journeys into the nuanced realities of chasing your dreams.
When not making music, Mr. K’s creative passions are injected into his work as a secondary school Maths teacher in Birmingham, where he lives with his wife, singer songwriter, Jenaé Mills.
