“Take A Bullet” the brand new 4-track EP from the 20yr-old, Birmingham UK-based rapper Guni is officially out this 21st May approximately 3 months after his debut album ‘Rest’ which has gained thousands of streams.
One morning after pondering on the act of taking a bullet for someone, Guni went to church and was going to leave early until a woman he had never met before stopped him and asked if he’s a rapper. She then continued, without context, to ask if he had heard the phrase “to take a bullet for someone.” This made Guni think and realise this is a perfect analogy of what Jesus did to save us. ‘Take A Bullet’ was then made into an emotional autotune/trap style song containing part of Guni’s story that changed him from his past life to following Jesus.
The EP contains 3 other tracks entitled ‘Adapt’, ‘Like Dat’ and ‘On My Own Ting’ all of which are grime tracks guiding young people away from the streets. The tracks explain you don’t need to ‘adapt’ to your environment, questioning why they want to act ‘like dat’ & explains Guni’s own stories and testimonies that helped him stay ‘on his own ting’ instead of getting involved with trouble.
‘Like Dat’ was released on 14th May as a single with a music video. This Friday the EP has been released and a music video for the track ‘Take A Bullet’ will be premiered also. Both directed by Highlight Films.
Guni has a bright future ahead and this is a taster of what’s to come.
