UK-based gospel artist, songwriter and worship leader MIN.ADEOLUWA has released a new five-track EP titled “THE NAMES OF GOD”, adding to his growing catalogue of Scripture-based songs.
The EP brings together worship, prayer, praise and thanksgiving, with each song focusing on who God is and the different ways He reveals Himself to His people. From declaring His greatness and calling upon Him in prayer to celebrating His goodness through dance and thanksgiving, the project explores the names of God through different sounds and expressions.
Sharing the heart behind the EP on Instagram, MIN.ADEOLUWA explained how the names we call God often come from our personal experiences with Him. Different seasons of life reveal different dimensions of His nature, and sometimes, it is what we have been through that gives a particular name of God a deeper meaning to us.
The EP opens with ‘Alpha and Omega’, featuring Brenique Adams. Drawn from Revelation 1:8, the song declares God as the beginning and the end, the One who was, who is and who is to come. It is followed by ‘Glorious God’, a worship song inspired by Exodus 15, celebrating God’s glory and the greatness of His works.
The third track, ‘4th Man in the Fire’, takes the project into a time of prayer. Inspired by the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in Daniel 3, the song calls upon the God who stood with the three Hebrew men in the fiery furnace. It is a prayer for God’s presence and intervention in the difficult situations people face today. Ms Debola features on the song, but rather than singing, she offers a spoken prayer, making her contribution particularly fitting for the message of the track.
Things take a lively turn with ‘Adonai’, a high-energy gyration song that sees MIN.ADEOLUWA returning to his roots. Combining Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa, the three major indigenous languages in Nigeria, he calls God by His different names in these languages, bringing together indigenous expressions of praise in one song. With its energetic rhythm and lively delivery, ‘Adonai’ is a celebration of God’s greatness that invites listeners to dance along.
The EP ends with ‘Ore Jésù Se’, featuring Evangelist Ojo Ade, a Yoruba thanksgiving song celebrating all that Jesus has done.
MIN.ADEOLUWA’s decision to include the song as the closing track was deliberate. After declaring God as Alpha and Omega, Glorious God, the Fourth Man in the Fire and Adonai, he felt the best way to bring the project to an end was with thanksgiving.
It is a special addition that gives the EP a beautiful conclusion. After calling God by His many names and acknowledging His power and faithfulness, the final song simply says thank you. In many ways, it sums up the message running through the entire project.
The release adds to what has already been a significant year for MIN.ADEOLUWA. His song ‘THIS GOD’ spent three consecutive weeks at No.1 on the Official UK Christian & Gospel Singles Chart, while ‘Psalm 91’ also reached No.1. His collaboration with Ms Debola, ‘SOG (Song of Gratitude)’, also topped the chart.
Over the years, MIN.ADEOLUWA has continued to build his music around Scripture, turning biblical passages into songs for worship, prayer and personal devotion. ‘THE NAMES OF GOD’ follows that same direction, while bringing together different musical styles that reflect his approach to gospel music.
Whether through the worship of ‘Alpha and Omega’, the prayers of ‘4th Man in the Fire’, the energetic praise of ‘Adonai’ or the thanksgiving of ‘Ore Jésù Se’, the message remains the same: God reveals Himself in different ways, and every encounter gives us another reason to call upon His name.
“THE NAMES OF GOD” is available now on all major digital streaming platforms.
