Son of legendary Reggae artist Tippa Irie, Raph The Message has music in his blood. The rapper/songwriter has encapsulated his love of music and his faith. He initially found local acclaim with the South London grime/hip hop scene with group South Soldiers. However, an encounter with Christ has seen a transformation in both creativity and the message in his music.
The song ‘Love’ is a clever depiction of love through God’s eyes. It initially highlights the stereotypical apprehension men have, falling for a woman in modern society. However, it gives us an insight on how God wants us to love a woman, while acknowledging the purpose love has in our life.
Raph The Message explained to us, “The background of this song stems from a couple who were getting married. My friends wife asked me to write a song for their wedding, as she knew her husband-to-be would enjoy it. She basically said I didn’t have a choice so I had to do it! I had to draw on their experiences, but also my own relationship and my take on love. Most men don’t appreciate how great a good woman is. I think it’s a wonderful thing.”
‘Love’ was submitted to the June 2016 listing of the UK Christian Chart, which continues to highlight and showcase creative gifts from across the UK and beyond.
