#2 TRACK ‘BURDENS’ Jamie Kimmett

The month of November saw the of the new single along with the official music video of ‘Burdens’ – the very first UKCC submission from Scottish singer-songwriter, Jamie Kimmett. The easy-listening country track is taken off his debut EP, “Prize Worth Fighting For.”

Listening to the track ‘Burdens‘, you are immediately reminded of the music of fellow singer-songwriter and label mate, Zack Williams except for the smoother, silkier vocals. It is hard to imagine Kimmett was born and raised in the little town of Kilmarnock in Scotland.

Having performed alongside Casting Crowns, Tauren Wells, Kari Jobe and other Christian music household names, it is tempting to think his music and life journey have been easy. But in fact, Kimmett turned down a major record deal simply because he believed God wanted him to and then subsequently busked in London to pay rent. His story is particularly intriguing, as though he was brought up by a loving family, he wasn’t brought in the faith and knew next to nothing about God. This all changed during his first sojourn to the US. Kimmett describes that phase of his life as “God’s constant pursuit for his soul.”

The new single ‘Burdens’ co-written with veteran songwriter Ben Cantalon, is music flooded with what feels like a salve or a balm, soothing the weary heart with lyrics carrying the reassuring message that we can lay our burdens down “At the feet of Jesus.”
