‘Waves’ follows the cathartic single ‘Crown‘ which focuses on the taboo subject of mental health disease that is ever-present within the African American community and the unrest that derives from the continuous silence. In ‘Waves’ AMP looks to break free from the silence and become a voice to that unspoken culture as he shares his story.
“I don’t remember any restful resorts with alluring oceanfront views and soothing sunsets, life was a little harder than that for me. My memories are full of brutal brawls, bullet filled battles, and bodies bellowing in blood. It feels like life always came in waves and at times you rode along but at other times you watch in fear too scared to move forward in what you may or may not see coming! I know it’s not the norm to speak openly about uncomfortable experiences, but I want to be that kind of person/ artist that does”. – Daniel AMP explains.
