UK gospel trailblazer Roy Francis launches new book in February 2019

Next year February will see an exciting addition to the collection of gospel music literature in the UK, with the release of Roy Francis‘ book “How to Make Gospel Music Work for You”. Roy Francis is one of the well known names in the gospel music scene and with good reason.

For many years Roy worked for the BBC producing its flagship religious programme, “Songs of Praise“. During that time he won the coveted Christian Broadcasting Council’s Gold Award for his programme on Billy Graham. He has produced several programmes for both BBC and ITV, including ‘People Get Ready,’ the gospel music series shown on Channel 4 in the 1980s.

In 1999 Roy left the BBC to start his own production company. His first project was the “Donnie McClurkin Live in London” recording and DVD for Verity Records in the States. Since then the company has provided television productions, staged conferences, events, concerts, gala dinners, launches and exhibitions for churches, artists, Christian agencies and corporate businesses.

Roy has staged many of the biggest names in American and British gospel music. They have include, Fred Hammond, Mary Mary, Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, Michelle Williams, Helen Baylor, Alvin Slaughter, Virtue, Karen Clark, Trini-Tee 5:7, Muyiwa/Riversongz, Graham Kendrick, Tim Hughes, Noel Robinson, The London Community Gospel Choir and many others. The company was also responsible for marketing and promoting the film “Amazing Grace” to the British church community and in recent years teamed up with Soul Marketing and BET television, to stage, “Getting to Know“, a series of celebrity television events. Guests on the shows included, Wendy Williams, Hip hop artist Trey Songz and American actress Tracee Ellis Ross. Roy also produced, the “Wendy Williams in London” Award-winning promotional DVD as part of this series.

Today with the changing nature of the music business Roy and his company spend most of their time working with artists in developing their music and showing how they can succeed with it in today’s, digital, internet and social media age.
