Rachel Kerr sings Samm Henshaw’s ‘Church’ and more for Apple Music

As you might be aware, we have been listening to the recently released Apple Music Home Sessions with some of our favourite UK Gospel Artists (Guvna B, The Spirituals, Kingdom Choir, Rachel Kerr, CalledOut Music). All the artists were tasked with one particular challenge to reimagine their own signature tracks — plus record a cover an iconic song by some of their favourite Black British Artists. This releases continue to impress gospel music enthusiasts and music listeners in general alike. We take a look at Rachel Kerr’s session performance in today’s article.

Rachel Kerr, MOBO Award winning songstress and renowned vocal coach, graced the Home Sessions with a fresh touch on her original songs ‘Change (Take Weh)’ and ‘I’m Alive’ before topping it off with a rousing rendition of Samm Henshaw’s ‘Church’.

“I’m a fan of Samm Henshaw and really honoured that he has expressed a great love of my music. His vocal tone and songwriting are just beautiful. I knew I wanted to do one of his songs but choosing “Church” was quite an easy pick. Something about the essence and subject matter just reminded me of my childhood, and how my Sunday mornings had such a huge impact on my artistry,” said Rachel regarding her cover pick.
