Nominations open as Wise Women Awards gears up for 15th anniv. celebrations

Britain’s premier awards event for Christian women, the Wise Women Awards (WWA) is preparing for its 15th anniversary celebrations. Nominations are now open in 13 categories, which aim to put the spotlight on Christian women making major strides in church and society.

This year, award categories include Women in Missions, Women in Music and Women in Media. There also a number of new categories including Women in Politics, Christian Mother award and Christian Book of the Year award.

The Wise Women Awards were founded by Pastor Marjorie Esomowei in 2004. She shared, “I launched the Wise Women Awards because I noted that whilst women did a lot of work in church they weren’t always recognised for the work that they do. The Wise Women Awards seeks to redress that.”

Pastor Marjorie co-pastors Triumphant Church International (TCI) alongside her husband Pastor Clem Esomowei. TCI is a collective of churches sited across the UK, South Africa and Nigeria. Alongside serving as a pastor, Pastor Marjorie is founder of Wisdom for Women International, a ministry designed to equip and empower women to be successful in all areas of their lives. Wise Women Awards is one of the arms of Pastor Marjorie’s ministry.

Over the years numerous women of note have been recipients of a WWA including Karen Gibson, Director of The Kingdom Choir, Baroness Doreen Lawrence OBE, Gospel singer Lurine Cato, Pastor Yvonne Brooks, former BBC Radio Presenter Dulcie Dixon and Olympic champion Christine Ohuruogu.

“The awards are open to women of all ages, races and denominations. The WWA really does aim to highlight Christian women who’ve achieved excellence in their chosen fields.”

The winners of each category will be decided by judges and the winners will receive their awards at a ceremony being held at the Grange Park Bridge Hotel, Aldgate, east London on Saturday, March 30th 2019.

Nominations are open until January 5th. Please click image below to find the full list of Wise Women Award categories.
