Fresh from being voted Best Newcomer by the public at the recent Premier Gospel Awards 2019, more and more doors are opening up for UK Christian Chart Top 10 group Sounds of New Wine and things seem to be gathering pace.
In addition to that, Musical Director Lawrence Johnson recently arranged background vocals for three songs on the new Aladdin film starring Will Smith out on the 22nd of May. With so much already to his credit including Sounds of New Wine’s “The Siege Is Over” album, SONW involvement in Stormzy‘s latest album and arranging backing vocals, with some of his team singing on the new CATS the Movie out at the end of the year.
You would think he wouldn’t have time for much else but there is just no stopping the energy that Lawrence throws into his multiple projects and it’s no surprise that three tracks off the SONW album have already been requested to be licensed by a record company, with possible interest for one of the tracks by another record company in the US. Lawrence is working on a new project, so watch this space *winks*.
With their new Musical Group of Excellence nomination at the upcoming African Gospel Music & Media Awards (AGMMA) on June 1st we are indeed excited for Lawrence and the team at New Wine (main picture credit: @lmisi.x) The album is available for download and streaming on all major outlets including Spotify, iTunes and Amazon Music.
Latest news is that they will be the opening band at Thy Kingdom Come Prayer Festival in Trafalgar Square on June the 9th alongside Matt Redman, The Kingdom Choir and Lou Fellingham so you better be there! (flyer below)
