New kid on the block Jordy Mankoto inspires with “Transition” album

aStepFWD remains a one-stop destination for Christian and Gospel music originating in the UK. Through the UK Christian Chart we have seen hundreds of new artists and listened to thousands of tracks even in our short 3.5 years existence. Still, we are as excited for new talent as the day we first started!

A recent submission reminded us of the many creatives that are silently working on their craft, developing their artistry and planning for their music future. Enter new kid on the block Jordy Mankoto with not just a single but a whole body of work. We got in touch and this is his story;

I started music at the beginning of 2016 but I was lost with no faith in God and was making secular music. I was doing music that was promoting violence, sexual sin and vanity. It was around that same time I decided to give my life to Christ but throughout the earlier stages, I was ‘playing church’ by which I mean I was going to church but not fully taking in the word of God.

I started to later see things crumbling down, friends were getting murdered and going to prison and other various disruptions. I realised that I had nowhere else to turn but to God. So as soon as I fully became born again, I left the world and decided to never look back, which resulted in me dropping music and other business ventures that was making me a lot of income.

Although I left the secular music alone, I knew that this gift of music was never going away so I decided to first do poetry which turned out well and I then released my first song in September titled, ‘Let It Shine’. After two more releases, people started to love my music, so I knew I had to get everything out of my system which then led to me recording my mixtape/album “TRANSITION” in the space of 9 days.

I am currently planning to do a nationwide tour next year, hopefully it goes worldwide and I’m also starting some new business ventures in the near future as well.
