Music from UK Gospel artists continues to lift nation’s spirit amidst 2nd lockdown

Back at the beginning of the first lockdown members of Britain’s gospel music community and singers from a gospel background joined forces to record a song of hope to encourage the nation during the pandemic. The impromptu mobile phone recording is still lifting spirits nationwide amidst a second lockdown.

The project was the brainchild of MOBO Award-winning gospel singer, now MBE recipient Lurine Cato. Back then she’d explained, “The nation is in a period of turmoil at the moment due to coronavirus, lockdown and self- isolation. I felt inspired to bring the gospel artists and singers who love gospel together to record a song of hope and to also encourage greater unity amongst artists. We decided to record the classic hymn ‘Great is thy Faithfulness’ because it is such an inspiring song. It’s a traditional hymn that will remind listeners that we can rely on God during difficult times.” Lurine enlisted the support of producer/musician Kenton Reid and they contacted artists from across the UK, the Caribbean and Europe who all agreed to take part.

The roll call of artists that took part in the recording include royal wedding lead singer Paul Lee, Kingdom Choir member Wayne Ellington, X-Factor runner-up Jahmene Douglas, X Factor finalist Shan Ako, former Voice contestants Roger Samuels, Janine Dyer, Jason Nicholson Porter and 2020 Voice participant Shezar, recording artist Tony Momrelle, BRIT Award nominee Rachel McFarlane, worship singers Yolanda Antonio, Noel Robinson and many more. Other artists that took part in the recording are Faye Simpson, John Fisher, Ni-Cola, Donna Akodu, Clif ‘n’ Marie, Hildia Campbell, Isaiah Raymond, Becca Folkes, CalledOut Music, Laia Badrenas, Christelle Pierron, Emmanuel Smith, Israel J Allen, Juanita Francis and MOBO Award winner Volney Morgan.

“I really hope that this song touches the heart of the nation and that for a few minutes people will be inspired and be comforted in the fact that God will help us through these difficult times.” says longstanding & multi-award winning journalist Marcia Dixon MBE.

And Volney summed it up perfectly, “In a moment of crisis, we stand with every doctor, every nurse, every volunteer and our own NHS, we stand with you. To every pastor, to every leader, to the community, we stand and we say we are praying for you. To the old, to the young, whether you live by yourself or with a full household, we wanna let you know, we are praying for you. No matter what it looks like, this too shall pass!”

Stay safe everyone and let’s keep praying one for another. Great Is God’s Faithfulness
