Michelle John releases new album “God Is” which is a selection of significant songs from her childhood.
“Each song connects with a part of my journey.” Michelle shares. “These songs have survived the test of time , over many generations, all the way to my grandmothers kitchen and my local Pentecostal Church. My life has been real and complicated but one of the most consistent things has been the songs. These songs remind me that God and I have history, songs like the title track ‘God Is’ which I heard and experienced as a 10 year old in my home church organisation . The choir sang and the soloist delivered the song in such a way that it hit my heart deeply and has never left me.“
“Another one of my favourite songs ‘What Shall I do’ was from one of the most inspirational American Traditional Gospel singers that I grew up listening to , her name was Tramaine Hawkins, I would sing to her albums all day long and drive my neighbours crazy. Every song has a story and is a part of my history.”
Whether it was singing as a child in her local Gospel Choir or recording and touring with stars such as Eric Clapton, Annie Lennox, George Michael, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Madonna, Mary J Blige, Tom Jones and Andrea Bocelli, the diversity of her musical background and the wide range of artists she has worked with have given Michelle a great vision for her musical destiny.
