Afrogospel artist Limoblaze has released his new four-track EP “Father’s Love”, a project centred around a simple but powerful message: the love of God is not something we earn, it is freely given.
If there is one thing you have to give Limoblaze, it is his work rate. The man keeps the music coming.
And the timing of this EP says a lot about that. Ahead of his recent London concert, he linked up with RUA YOUNG for ‘Super Power II’, then came Young & Chosen: The Solid Ground Edition. He followed that with an acoustic release, and now there is another body of work.
“Father’s Love” also comes with a strong mix of collaborations. Johnny Drille joins him on ‘Already Loved’, Marizu and Oba Reengy feature on ‘This Kind Love’, while Marizu makes a second appearance alongside Emandiong on ‘Talk & Do II’. Teninlanimi and Oneskript complete the line-up on ‘Ayaya’.
Across the EP, Limoblaze explores different expressions of the Father’s love. There is grace that does not have to be earned, redemption through the blood of Jesus, freedom from condemnation and the transformation that comes through Christ. There is also the reminder of a love that remains constant through the bad days and a God whose hand has never failed.
That is really where the four songs meet. It is the story of a God who loves us before we could ever earn it, remains faithful through every season and can take a man who was down in sin and make him new.
There is plenty of Nigerian flavour in the project too, with English blending naturally with Nigerian languages including Yoruba and Igbo. It is something Limoblaze has continued to do well with his music, allowing his Nigerian identity to sit naturally alongside the message he is sharing.
And it turns out “Father’s Love” is only the beginning.
Limoblaze has revealed that this is the first of three EPs arriving across three consecutive months. “Father’s Love” arrives in September, “Father’s Chase” follows in October, before “Father’s House” completes the run in November.
So when we talk about his work rate, there is clearly plenty more already lined up.
The three titles also point towards a bigger story unfolding, although exactly where Limoblaze intends to take that story remains to be seen. For now, “Father’s Love” sets things in motion with grace, redemption, faithfulness, transformation and the kind of love that remains constant through it all.
Introducing the project, Limoblaze summed up its heart simply: “God’s love for us is never earned, but freely given.”
Four songs, 12 minutes, and apparently just the first chapter of what Limoblaze has planned over the next three months.
