Nicky Brown is the product of the black Pentecostal church and various luminaries who have mentored and helped to propel the gift he continually cultivates. Nicky joins a very distinguished listing of speakers and panelists at this year’s Music & Media Conference on 23rd September at the University of Westminster.
The enigmatic Brown has worked in various genres and positions since leaving school culminating in three major publishing contracts with Virgin publishing which was bought by EMI publishing and beyond that Nicky did a further with Chrysalis Music after the former expired. He is now currently in an administration deal with Westbury Music publishing and is also a Minister at a prominent black majority church and whilst working on his own artistic skills.
As a musician/producer/arranger some of the artists Nicky has worked on albums for and played with includes Mica Paris, Paul Weller and the Style Council, Baba Maal, Emma Bunton, Craig David, Earth Wind and Fire, Paulo Nutini, Sam Moore, Boy George, Mel B, Madonna, B 52’s, M People, Jocelyn Brown, Mark King, Primal Scream, Jimmy Cliff, Pete Townsend, Mike and the Mechanics, Dave Stewart, Micheal Bolton, Bloc Party, Rick Astley, Tom Baxter, Robin Trower and Don Was. These credits can all be verified online or on sleeve notes.
His list of acknowledgments relating to gospel artists nationally and internationally includes London Community Gospel Choir, Clark Sisters, Marvin Winans, Andre Crouch and is otherwise too many to start naming.
Nicky has also worked on and for several TV and Film companies in different capacities including BBC Television and Radio, Channel Four and ITV, OHTV, Universal, TOTP, Songs of Praise, Gospel Train, People Get Ready Show, Brothers and Sisters, Four Weddings and a Funeral to name a few along with a number of Arts Council funded Commissions such as Nitro At The Opera and FISK Project / Roll Jordan Roll.
