The UK Christian and Gospel music scene seems to be losing a generation of youth talent. A pretty bold statement and one that might actually not go down too well but then the truth hurts a little, sometimes a lot. Lets put it another way. How many teenage artists upcoming or otherwise can you name right now?
The opening sentences above are from an article that was written back in 2016. Four years later and how much progress have we made? Let’s keep it simple. Again. How many teenage/young adult Christian & Gospel artists can you name right now?
We know there is an abundance of young Christian talent here in the UK and all over the world. For whatever reasons, even though the age of artists breaking through in the mainstream has consistently been decreasing, the Christian & Gospel music community still hasn’t seen anywhere near a comparable emergence of young talented creatives coming through.
It is to facilitate and encourage these individuals that The Trinity Challenge was launched by aStepFWD in partnership with the UK Christian Chart. The challenge will have three phases across nine months and restricted to 16 – 25-year-olds.
This first phase of The Trinity Challenge is titled #VocallyGifted and allows for video submissions of cover songs only as organisers focus on finding exceptional vocal talent. The £400 worth of prizes includes £200 cash for winner and consultation sessions with Artist Development & Marketing professionals.
The new deadline for the challenge is midnight on Monday 4th May. So if you know any emerging young singers, tag and share with them as this could be their opportunity to breakthrough!
