When asked about his journey with “Jesus is King”, this is what Kanye West had to say:

“Now that I’m in service to Christ, my job is to spread the gospel, to let people know what Jesus has done for me. There was a time I was letting you know what high fashion had done for me, I was letting you know what the Hennessey had done for me, but now I’m letting you know what Jesus has done for me, and in that I’m no longer a slave, I’m a son now, a son of God. I’m free,” he said. “The most space that I had to think is when I went to the hospital. One of the things that happened when I went to the hospital is I started reading the Bible and I started writing and copying out Bible verses.”

On the album we hear Kanye West passionately and confidently rap about his new life in Christ, with lyrics such as:

“He’s the strength in this race that I run
Every time I look up, I see God’s faithfulness
And it shows just how much He is miraculous”

Taken from the track ‘God Is’.

“How you get so much favor on your side?
Accept Him as your Lord and Saviour,” I replied”

Taken from the track ‘ON GOD’.

“Said I’m finna do a gospel album
What have you been hearin’ from the Christians?
They’ll be the first one to judge me.
Make it feel like nobody love me.
They’ll be the first one to judge me
Feelin’ like nobody love me”

Taken from the track ‘Hands On’ featuring Fred Hammond.

“Every knee shall bow
Every tongue confess
Jesus is Lord
Jesus is Lord”

Taken from the track ‘Jesus is Lord’.

On the 11 track album we hear Kanye’s testimony on how Jesus saved him. The album also features tracks such as ‘Closed On Sunday’ and ‘Use This Gospel’. Lyrically he’s expressing his respect for Jesus, personal struggles, love , family values, redemption, life’s up and down and God’s mercy. The “Jesus is King” album is clean content that uniquely uplifts Jesus through song.
