Internationally renowned Tim Hughes set to perform at StepFWD Awards 2023

“Here I Am To Worship” by Tim Hughes is perhaps one of the most popular worship songs globally and the man himself is set to perform at this year’s StepFWD Awards, joining an amazing lineup featuring top UK talent such as Nick Herbert, LCGC, Ryan Hylton, Triple O, DJ Shunz, MuyiwaAsha Elia, Niiella, Jonathan Ogden, Becca FolkesLou Fellingham and Emmanuel Smith. StepFWD Awards is the UK’s definitive Christian and Gospel music awards taking place on Saturday 11th November at south London’s largest arts centre, Fairfield Halls, Croydon.

Tim Hughes is a internationally renowned worship leader, singer and songwriter. Formerly the director of worship at Holy Trinity Brompton, a large Anglican church in central London, he has since been ordained as a minister in the Church of England and appointed Vicar of St Luke’s, Gas Street in Birmingham which he leads alongside his wife, Rachel. Gas Street Church is now one church across three locations; gathering hundreds of people onsite & reaching many more through weekly online gatherings, and serving many in the local community through the ‘Love Your Neighbour’ initiative launched in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hughes has written a number of songs that are sung worldwide, including the Dove Award-winning “Here I Am to Worship“, “Happy Day”, “Beautiful One”, “Jesus Saves”, “At Your Name”, “The Way” and “Hope and Glory”. He also pioneered Worship Central, a movement of worship leaders and musicians with a desire to see people encounter God, be equipped as worship leaders so that the local church can be empowered. He has five children; Phoebe, Simeon, Lois, Judah & Summer.

StepFWD Awards is inspired by Romans 12:10: “Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honour.” The main focus is just that – showing honour to those blessing us with their musical giftings – without leaving anyone out. Expect to see new and current artists celebrated alongside those who have contributed for decades oftentimes never receiving the recognition deserved. Their combined efforts have created the diverse and lively faith-inspired music scene we have in the UK today – Song of The Year nominees alone span twelve categories across numerous genres!
