UK producer Doug Ross, known within the drum and bass community as KUBIKS, unveils a deeply personal new musical chapter with the release of “DRIFT”, an atmospheric instrumental album released under his pseudonym, INFLUXX.
Available now across all major streaming platforms, “DRIFT” moves beyond genre boundaries to create an immersive soundscape for meditation, prayer, worship, sleep and quiet reflection. Blending cinematic textures with ambient instrumentation, the record offers listeners an invitation to slow down, breathe deeply and find stillness amid the demands of everyday life.
The project grew from an unexpectedly simple place: a father searching for music to help his daughter fall asleep.
“Like many parents, I spent countless evenings searching through Spotify playlists for music that would help my daughter settle at bedtime,” Doug explains. “I was looking for something calming and beautiful, but also emotionally rich—music that could create a genuine sense of peace. Over time, I realised I wanted to make the kind of record I had been searching for.”
What began as an idea for a sleep album gradually developed into something more expansive. As Ross explored the possibilities of ambient and cinematic composition, “DRIFT” evolved into a collection designed to accompany different moments throughout the day: winding down in the evening, finding focus while studying, creating space for prayer, or simply stepping away from the noise of modern life.
For Doug, whose creative identity has long been associated with the energy and movement of drum and bass, the album represents a distinct shift in pace while retaining his instinct for atmosphere, emotion and immersive production.
“DRIFT is very different from anything I have released as KUBIKS,” he says. “It gave me the opportunity to explore a quieter, more reflective side of music and to create something that people can use in whatever way speaks to them—whether that is for sleep, meditation, worship, studying, or just taking a moment to be still.”
Although rooted in Doug’s personal experience and shaped in part by his interest in prayer and worship, the album remains open to listeners of all backgrounds. Its instrumental format allows each person to bring their own perspective to the music, making it equally suited to spiritual reflection, creative work, relaxation or rest.
With DRIFT, INFLUXX introduces a project built on the belief that music can do more than fill a room: it can change how that room feels.
