StepFWD’s 2025 Male Artist of the Year, IMRHAN, is back with a new single, ‘TEACH ME’ , taking listeners into some of the questions and struggles that come with navigating music, life and faith as a Christian artist.
The song opens with IMRHAN reciting the first verse of Psalm 23, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want,” but rather than going straight into singing, he starts talking.
“Is it okay to want things? I don’t know, just thinking. I’m trying to find a balance between being human and Christian, if there is one.”
It is an interesting question, especially coming immediately after “I shall not want.” As a Christian, you still have dreams, ambitions and things you want to achieve, but where does the line sit between wanting more and being content with what God has given you?
A female vocal then comes in with a simple prayer, asking God to teach her how to walk like Him and to know His goodness.
But ‘TEACH ME’ goes beyond that one question. The song feels like a look into some of the things a Christian artist has to wrestle with. Who do you make music with? How do you approach collaborations? Does being talented together mean you should create together?
IMRHAN makes his own position clear: “I don’t work with artists if our hearts are on different placement.”
That line says a lot about where he is with his music. For him, it is not only about whether two artists sound good together. There also has to be an alignment in what they are trying to do and where their hearts are.
‘TEACH ME’ is not just another song from IMRHAN. It is him letting listeners into some of the conversations and questions behind the music, from wanting things as a Christian to choosing who he creates with, while admitting that he is still learning along the way.
Maybe that is the whole point of the song. He does not claim to have all the answers. He simply asks God, “Teach me.”
‘TEACH ME’ is out now on all major streaming platforms.
