“Heavy is the head that wears the crown” – A New Generation of Nigerian Royalty’

“Heavy is the head that wears the crown” – but what about when it’s on the shoulders of Nigeria’s young Royals? Presented by journalist and broadcaster, Hannah Ajala, the programme – A New Generation of Nigerian Royalty – offers a first hand insight into the ancient traditions across Nigeria that lead to a lifetime of service for young royals. It closely follows the lives of Nigeria’s youngest regents, exploring how their faith both propelled them and now sustains them on the throne. How do they reconcile their belief in a God that their ancestors and subjects rejected? What personal sacrifices have come with the rulership? Is a life of ‘normalcy’ ever possible when leading a community?

The programme’s producer, Tobi Olujinmi said, “We’re excited to show the world yet another side of the continent. Hannah beautifully goes on a journey and discovers clever, resolute and faith filled young rulers leading with a belief for a better Nigeria. These stories matter, it is why Hill 5.14 exists.”
