The power of gospel and the majesty of orchestral music unite in an inspiring new collaboration as the world-renowned London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) partners with Platoon to present “Shout for Joy”. This groundbreaking project brings gospel and classical music together in a way never heard before, lifting hearts, stirring souls, and sharing communal joy through sound.
The album’s lead singles, ‘Hallelujah, You’re Worthy’ featuring Lurine Cato MBE, and ‘Gloria’ featuring Evvie McKinney, are now available, offering a taste of what promises to be one of the most dynamic and uplifting releases of the year. The full album will be released on Friday, November 7.
Recorded at the beautifully restored LSO St Luke’s and produced by multi-Grammy-winner Jonathan Allen, Shout for Joy reimagines gospel classics and contemporary songs with full symphonic colour. The project features MOBO Award-winner Lurine Cato, Memphis powerhouse Evvie McKinney, acclaimed pianist Brandon A. Boyd, and the soul-stirring Soul Sanctuary Gospel Choir, conducted by Dr André J. Thomas.
Described by Dr Thomas as “a true meeting of worlds,” the album combines the emotional depth of gospel with the timeless beauty of classical music. “By combining the emotional depth of gospel with the timeless beauty of classical music, we’ve created something that speaks to the heart and spirit of every listener,” he shared.
Platoon’s A&R Kunmi Ogunsola added, “We wanted to honor gospel’s roots while introducing it to new audiences in a fresh, symphonic way. This album is about joy, hope, and the universal power of music to uplift.”
From the jubilant energy of ‘Hallelujah, You’re Worthy‘ and ‘Sign Me Up‘ to the heartfelt devotion of ‘Total Praise‘ and ‘It’s Working, “Shout for Joy” celebrates the unity and passion that gospel music brings to worship. The collaboration stands as a landmark for UK Christian and Gospel music, proving that faith-inspired artistry continues to evolve and reach new heights.
With these first singles already resonating widely, anticipation for the full release continues to build. “Shout for Joy” will be available for streaming and purchase on November 7.
