GL Live memories and anticipation for X event 16.04.16

It was the winter of 2007 and there was a long line in central London for a Gospel Hip-hop concert. It was actually shocking that there was such a high demand for this kind of music. A cue of over 400 people standing in the freezing January cold confirmed that these people were serious fans of the genre.

From the excited reactions and expressions throughout and after the show, it seems everyone there was also blown away by the local and international talent.

Mali Music

This was the early days of what was to be a good few years for Gospel music, filled with multi-city tours hosted by the GL Live collective. This was unlike anything the UK Gospel scene had experienced. Each event felt like an authentic Hip-hop concert and the same time as a holy spirit filled worship experience.

At it’s height the GL live stage saw the likes of Da Truth, Mali Music, Lisa McClendon and one of the most rememberable was now Grammy Winner Lecrae who had his first UK performance at GL Live 2.

Lecrae – Praying For You

On a national level we were introduced to stella artists like Triple O, Faith Child, JayEss, Jahaziel and quite memorable was a young artist named E-Tizz who actually proposed to his wife on stage at GL 2 (they are now married with 4 lovely kids).

GL Live has accomplished something that very few have been able to reproduce since they took a hiatus. GL Live brought a nation of Gospel Hiphop/music lovers out of their houses to enjoy an amazing live music experience.

As Roger Moore and the GL Live team focus their energies on the 10th event GL Live X, we can imagine it will be an explosive night with special guest appearances from New York based C.H.R.I.S. who rips tracks to pieces with a relentless flow and Richard Dauphin speaking hard truths of street life and revolution.

In addition to the US acts GL Live will also be showcasing the cream of the crop in UK Urban Gospel talent. This year will feature established and well seasoned UK artists such as Presha J, Leke and compare for the evening, 2015 MOBO Gospel Award winning artist, Faith Child. They will be joined by some of the most talked about and upcoming talent such as Possible P, David B, Ms Martha J, Entitled and more.

So with Birmingham being pretty central, wherever you’re based we strongly encourage you to support what promises to be an amazing event. (Click flyer below for more details & tickets)
