Game on for the gospel with new sport and video resource

Scripture Union is proud to announce the launch of Half Time, an exciting new outreach toolkit that combines the energy of sport, the power of video and the opportunity to explore faith through the Gospel of Mark.

The official launch event will take place online on the 25th and 26th November. Leaders from across sports ministry, education and youth and children’s work will gather for the very first opportunity to experience Half Time.

With 70% of children and young people physically active every day, Half Time taps into a language they already understand and love. Across 36 ready-to-run sessions in three seasons, Half Time provides engaging video content, interactive games and simple leader guides that make it easy for youth and children’s workers, teachers and Faith Guides to connect with children and young people who don’t go to church.

How it works
Each Half Time session follows a simple and flexible format:
Watch a video – featuring sports stories, athlete testimonies or fun cartoon content.
Play three interactive games – hand-picked activities that reinforce the message and get young people moving.
Explore the Bible – unpack Mark’s Gospel together in ways that are accessible, relevant and relational.

Why it matters
Half Time isn’t just about sport – it’s about building lasting relationships and creating space for children and young people to discover Jesus for themselves. Leaders are fully equipped with step-by-step guides, diagrams and discussion questions, meaning even non sporty leaders can deliver sessions with confidence. With three seasons spanning a full school year, Half Time offers long-term value as well as instant impact.

A word from Scripture Union
Dave Newton, National Director of Scripture Union, said: “We know that sport is one of the most powerful ways to connect with today’s generation. With ‘Half Time’, we’re giving leaders a simple, adaptable toolkit that speaks the language of young people, helps them explore Mark’s Gospel and opens doors for life-changing encounters with Jesus. We’re excited to see how this resource will help churches, schools, and community groups reach children and young people in fresh, engaging ways.”

Who it’s for
Half Time is designed for use in a wide range of settings: schools, after-school clubs, churches, holiday clubs and community outreach. It offers age-appropriate formats for Juniors (5–10, cartoon-based) and Seniors (11–16, real-life sports action), ensuring it connects across a broad spectrum of ages and contexts.

Join the movement
Already piloted with outstanding feedback, Half Time is set to inspire a new wave of creative outreach across the UK. Season 1 is now available exclusively through Scripture Union, with further seasons coming soon.
