Gallery Cat, as known as, Angelo is a programme director for The Extreme tour. Conscious Rapper, Christian, will give you a little insight of his performance…
Monday 8th September, an intimate evening filled with talented people such as spoken word artists, up and coming gospel artists. The inspiring thing about this all was it was an event filled with different cultures, experiences and backgrounds that added to their performances. All being there to enjoy the scene and encourage one another, like a family I’d say.
Gallery Cat, US Artist, walks on stage to give us a hint of his conscious rap. An audience of 20 of us anticipated his performance – introduced by the CEO of aStepFwd – O’Neil Dennis, describing Gallery Cat as ‘transparent’ ‘touching‘, usually with these words you hear, you do not necessarily know what to expect, questions pop-up like ‘are they really as transparent as being perceived?’. Little did most of us know – the heart, passion and genuine openness Gallery Cat delivered was amazing.
A M A Z I N G.
His performance made us realise our outcry internally when everything seems to be ‘okay’ to others externally. When nobody understands you, so you feel alone and lets’ not forget aiming to ‘hold it all together’ when really everything is a muzzle – Gallery Cat has the audience filled with the ability to think in different aspects of life, being relatable to many others. I’m sure one or two tears were being shed (pfft not myself obvious!) *installs sarcasm*.
One thing that inspired myself and I am pretty sure others is, all the emotion, pain and outcry are the exact ways Jesus felt when being rejected, betrayed and helpless even though he had the confidence to put his life, sacrifice himself for the love of us. Never feel alone or neglected, Jesus will always be the Father to the Fatherless, He…he alone has a plan for you. Gallery Cat emphasises this to us.
Lastly, beautiful moment – the audience was left with a question, a deep one I’d say ‘What is your calling?’. We have the dream to be successful and great but are we fulfilling the purpose our Father has given to us? Something Gallery Cat left us to ponder on…
