GAISE BABA SERVES UP ‘GOD IS COOKING’ ALBUM

Following the success of ‘No Turning Back II’ with Lawrence Oyor, Nigerian Afro-gospel artist Gaise Baba returns with his new album, “God Is Cooking”, out now on all major streaming platforms.

The 13-track, 40-minute album comes after a remarkable run for Gaise Baba, with ‘No Turning Back II’ taking over social media last year and reaching audiences well beyond the gospel space. The song also makes the new album, but this time as part of a much bigger body of work which Gaise has described as a ‘13-course meal’.

Across the project, Gaise brings together different sounds, languages and collaborations. Greatman Takit features on ‘Show Workings’, Nontokozo Mkhize joins him on ‘Smile For Joy’, Cofi Boham appears on ‘He’s Not Done’, while Kaestrings features on ‘Fire’.

The album opens with ‘Lenu (Intro)’ and closes with ‘We Will Go’, with the full project carrying a journey of discipleship from reverence and identity through growth, obedience and mission.

Ahead of the release, Gaise Baba held a listening party in London, where guests got an early listen to the album.

Lady T, multiple award-winning radio and live-event presenter and Head of Partnerships at AStepFWD, described the evening as ‘a great evening of discovery and enlightenment’. She also highlighted the different languages featured on the album, including Yoruba, Hausa and Zulu, and praised the mixture of genres across the project, calling it a ‘first-class body of work’ before adding, ‘God is cooking indeed.’

There is also a lot behind the album beyond the music itself. Gaise Baba has explained the meaning behind the title, the ‘13-course meal’ idea and even the details on the cover art, including the golden tray, the J.J. Ransome-Kuti portrait and the meaning behind him being seated on the cover.

We broke all of that down in our earlier feature on the heart and intentionality behind “God Is Cooking”.

Now the full album is here for everyone to experience.

“God Is Cooking” is out now on all major streaming platforms. Listen to the full 13-track album now.
