DONNIE MCCLURKIN SHARES ‘LORD, I THANK YOU’ AHEAD OF FINAL ALBUM ‘FINALLY’

Gospel music legend Donnie McClurkin has released a new single, ‘Lord, I Thank You’, as he continues the journey towards what he has announced will be his final recorded album, Finally.

‘Lord, I Thank You’ is a song of gratitude, coming from McClurkin’s own journey and his reflection on God’s faithfulness through the good times and the difficult ones.

Sharing the song, McClurkin said, “Through every season, every blessing, every trial, God has remained faithful. This song is simply my heart saying, Lord, I thank You.”

The song was written by McClurkin and produced by his longtime collaborator Trent Phillips. It follows ‘Better Afterwhile’, the first single from Finally, which reached No.1 on Billboard’s Gospel chart.

Finally is particularly significant because McClurkin has announced that it will be his final recorded album. After more than four decades in gospel music, the album will close a recording journey that has given the church songs that have remained relevant across generations.

The project carries the theme ‘Bringing Gospel Back to Gospel Music’, with McClurkin going back to the church roots and sound that have been a major part of his music from the beginning.

From ‘Stand’ and ‘We Fall Down’ to ‘Speak to My Heart’ and ‘Great Is Your Mercy’, McClurkin has built a catalogue that has become part of gospel music history. With Finally, he is preparing to bring that chapter of his journey to a close on his own terms.

The album is expected in October, and ‘Lord, I Thank You’ gives another taste of what is to come.
