Donnie McClurkin Releases ‘FINALLY’, the Album He Says Will Be His Last

The wait is over! Gospel music legend Donnie McClurkin has released his much-anticipated album, “FINALLY”, the project he previously announced would be his last studio recording.

The 13-track album runs for approximately one hour and 25 minutes, marking a significant moment in a recording career spanning more than four decades.

The album opens with the familiar praise song What A Mighty God We Serve, known for its chorus, “Heaven and earth adore Him, angels bow before Him”, and closes with Place in This World, featuring fellow Christian music legend Michael W. Smith.

Earlier this year, McClurkin announced his decision to step away from commercial recording during a special reunion concert at Perfecting Faith Church. He described FINALLY as the end of his recording career, expressing his desire to leave behind songs that would continue touching lives for generations to come.

Ahead of the album’s release, listeners were introduced to songs including Better Afterwhile, which reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart, and Lord, I Thank You, a song centred on gratitude and God’s faithfulness.

The project carries the theme Bringing Gospel Back to Gospel Music, reflecting McClurkin’s commitment to the traditional gospel sound and the message that has remained at the heart of his ministry.

The release also comes after a difficult period for the singer, who spoke publicly about a serious health scare in 2025, shortly after completing the recording. Looking back on that experience, McClurkin shared how much more personal the message of Lord, I Thank You had become.

Over the years, McClurkin has given gospel music some of its most loved songs, including Stand, We Fall Down, Speak to My Heart and Great Is Your Mercy. His music has travelled far beyond church walls, becoming part of worship services and personal testimonies around the world.

While “FINALLY” may be his last album, it does not mean the end of his ministry. McClurkin has indicated that he will continue ministering through live appearances and other engagements.

For those who have followed his music over the years, “FINALLY” is more than another album release. It is an opportunity to hear one final recording project from a voice that has helped shape gospel music for decades.
