Christmas has come early for worship music lovers as Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter Chris Tomlin releases his new album, “Good News of Great Joy (Christmas Songs of Worship)”, today, 6 November 2026.

The 11-track album features a mixture of Christmas classics, new songs and familiar worship favourites given a Christmas touch. At the heart of the project is the story of Jesus’ birth and the joy and hope that Christmas brings.

Sharing the news on Instagram, Tomlin couldn’t hide his excitement. He revealed that he had been waiting a long time for this release and expressed his hope that the songs would fill homes, cars, workplaces and churches with the good news of Christmas.

The album includes Christmas favourites such as ‘God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen’ and ‘Joy to the World (Unspeakable Joy)’, alongside a Christmas version of his popular worship song ‘Holy Forever’. There is also ‘Day of All Days’, featuring Terrian, and an instrumental version of ‘Carol of the Bells’ with Matthew Ryan Gilder.

One song that particularly catches the attention is ‘The Manger to the Cross’. Even from the title, it is a reminder that Christmas is about much more than the birth of a baby in Bethlehem. Jesus came into the world for a purpose, and that purpose would eventually lead Him to the cross.

Other songs on the album include ‘The Angels Sing’, ‘No Name Higher’, ‘The Hope’, ‘It’s Christmas Time Again’ and the title track, ‘Good News of Great Joy’.

And the album isn’t the only thing Tomlin has planned for Christmas this year. A children’s book bearing the same title is expected on 10 November, while his Christmas With Chris Tomlin: Good News of Great Joy Tour begins on 30 November.

With 11 songs and a running time of about 39 minutes, there is plenty to enjoy as we approach Christmas. Whether you love the traditional carols or prefer contemporary worship songs, Tomlin has brought both together in this project.

“Good News of Great Joy (Christmas Songs of Worship)” is out now on all major streaming platforms.
