Chris Tomlin expands “The King Is Still The King” with deluxe release

Chris Tomlin, Grammy-winning artist, songwriter and worship leader, has released the deluxe edition of “The King Is Still The King”, expanding on the album he first released last year from 16 tracks to 26.

The album leans heavily on the message of redemption, the forgiveness of sin, the finished work of Christ, the journey of believers with Him, and the power in the name of Jesus. That is what gives the project its weight. It is not just a collection of worship songs, but a body of work that keeps pointing listeners back to the heart of the Christian faith and the hope made possible through Christ.

That same message runs through the title track, “The King Is Still the King,” which reflects on the redemptive story and reminds listeners that the Jesus who came to save, forgive and restore is still reigning. More than just a title, it captures the heart of the album and the truth holding it together.

One of the standout features of the deluxe edition is the inclusion of behind-the-song moments, giving listeners a deeper look into the stories, Scriptures and reflections that shaped some of the project’s key songs. These include track 3, which offers insight into how Scripture shapes Chris Tomlin’s writing and composition through ‘How Good It Is’; track 14, which gives the story behind ‘Help My Unbelief’; and additional reflective moments that explore the stories behind the well-known hymn songs ‘It Is Well’ and ‘My Father’s World’.

That adds another layer to the deluxe release. It not only expands the album in size but also helps listeners understand the foundation behind many of Tomlin’s songs. As a worship leader, that clearly matters to him, and it comes through in the way he frames music not only as melody and arrangement, but as a way of proclaiming truth.

With the deluxe edition now out, “The King Is Still The King” gets a fresh moment while still holding firmly to the message that shaped it from the start. More than just extra tracks, this expanded version offers a deeper look into the heart behind the music and the redemptive message running through it.
