Chicago based artist Aasha Marie releases debut EP “Signs of Life”

After releasing the radio-friendly, upbeat soul anthem ‘The Change’, Aasha Marie debuts her full EP “Signs of Life.” Working closely with her team of producers Runtrell TrickySkinner and Terrance Slim Holmes, she worked hard to form the debut EP that embodies the trio’s musical minds coming together as one singre thread. Created and Recorded during the covid-19 pandemic, gathering was challenging, but Aasha Marie and her collective pressed forward with masks on and safety measures in place to create the contemporary gospel sound with an added Chicago flair.

Aasha says, “It’s amazing to me how each song sang, and chords played express my heart in musical form. Every song on here is a genre-blending and bending form of gospel music. This EP very much sounds like a gospel musician shed that had songwriters in the room, and I’m the songwriter”.

A Chicago native and accomplished Christian hip hop artist, Asha Marie‘s first solo effort ‘Breaking Obscurity’ was realease in 2014. In the same year she was named “Artist on the Come Up” from Chicago by Wade-oRadio, one of the top Christian hip hop music sites. Her first full length album WTWS has been streams over 100k times on Spotify, receiving airplay on Vocalo 91.1FM, Chicago’s Urban Alternative public radio station. Her song ‘Dapper’ is featured on episode 6 of Gutsy, the new docuseries on Apple TV+ executive produced by Hillary and Chelsea Clinton.

Aasha Marie was a recipient of the 2020 and 2022 Individual Aritists Program grant awarded by the City of Chigago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCase). Click the image below to download or stream “Signs of Life”.
