Calvin Hill – VANITY [UK US][Article & Music Video]

Totally unplanned and as random as they come we were linked in with Calvin Hill all the way in Charlotte, North Carolina and got a chance to listen to one of his latest new music releases Vanity. Just from the initial conversation Step FWD had with Calvin, we could tell there was something profoundly and wonderfully different about this young man. He was born in Sierra Vista, Arizona and from a very early age began writing short stories, poems, plays and songs eventually for himself. Anchored in the church through a Christian mother, Calvin wanted to reach out to his peers having developed a love for Hip Hop after accepting Christ around age 11. Believe it or not this young man is not even 15 years old yet but is already a full ambassador for Christ, proven in part by The Youth Commission International and New Life 91.9 honoring him with the Eagle Award for showing outstanding Christian Leadership just this week. Calvin’s takes full inspiration from the Bible as is evident in the words, metaphors and sentences comprising his lyrics. He admires artists such as Lecrae and Tedashii but ultimately gives God the glory for what he is going to accomplish. This confident young minister told Step FWD his message to his peers was, “If you wanna serve God with all your heart you can do it.” He went on to elaborate, “No matter where you come from, there is no goal that other people set for you that you can’t surpass”, and Calvin finished off with the reminder that we can do all things through Christ and that there is nothing stopping us but ourselves. He hopes that with his 13 track mixtape Worldly Ambition which is set for release at the end of July, he will be able to address some of the worldly struggles that he and his peers face including anger, lust and others. Calvin stated that everything he does is a part of his ministry and music is just another medium through which he shares the good news of the Gospel to others. He was proud to say that he is the same whether he is on the stage or off and that his life is used to represent God and set examples for other youth to follow. For his Vanity track from the upcoming mixtape, Calvin draws on the bible book of Ecclesiastes, said to be written by King Solomon with the first 6 chapters especially concluding the vanity of all things under the sun. Calvin challenges the norm and in the end also concludes “its vanity, its vanity, all it is is just vanity.” We thank God for young people such as Calvin Hill, unashamed and uncompromising for Jesus in this, one of many Step FWD UK to USA international Christian link-ups. ‘Over the pond’ but still a member of God’s army and definitely part of the revival springing up worldwide, follow Calvin’s ministry FACEBOOK and look out for more from this amazing young artist.
