Brand new release from LICC ‘We Seek Your Kingdom’ feat. top UK artists

Brand new release ‘We Seek Your Kingdom’ is a new civic hymn written by Noel Robinson, Andy Flanagan and Graham Hunter. The song has been recorded as the theme song for ‘Thy Kingdom Come’; is a new lyric done to the traditional ‘Eventide’ Melody (Abide with Me); and is released by LICC with features from Andy Flanagan, Lou Fellingham, Donna Akodu and Noel Robinson.

What is the song about?

‘We Seek Your Kingdom’ encourages Christians to see their daily tasks through God’s eyes – and reimagine how he might work through them to bring his kingdom in every sphere of life. It’s an encouragement that God is active in every part of our society – with us in our work, our homes, and our streets; working in media, trade, and politics – and that through ordinary Christians, he is working to ‘transform, revive, and heal society’.

This song is also a prayer for each of us to say over our daily lives – that we want to see God’s kingdom come on our frontline, that we repent of the ways we fail to live up to that desire, and that we recommit to inviting God to work through us where we are.

Why is it important?

The songs we sing in church form our beliefs. When we sing about seeking God’s kingdom in every sphere of life, it changes the way we approach our day-to-day tasks – seeing whatever we do as a chance to join God’s redemptive work.

It’s a song of action as well as contemplation. It spurs us to ask what part we can play in making our bit of God’s world more like Heaven. It’s also a song for everyone. It reflects the fact that God works through us on all our frontlines – in offices, hospitals, nurseries, food vans, banks, living rooms, and beyond.

The video above is a powerful reminder of God’s presence in the public square – depicting ordinary Christians on their God-given frontlines, as well as the songwriters singing in a literal town square!
