We caught up with UK-based gospel singer, songwriter worship leader Blessing Airhihen below, following her recent 9-track debut album “He Is Changing Me”. Notable for songs include ‘Fresh Fire’, ‘Rejoice’ and ‘You Will Smile Again’. “He is Changing Me” is a body of work that captures the workings of the Father through us to become an expression of His love to the world and fulfilling divine mandate.  

Tell us a little bit about your new album and what was the inspiration behind it?

I got the inspiration to write the song He is changing me over ten years ago. I was discouraged and felt like giving up due to life situation at that time. The words of this song came to me and I wrote the song as the HolySpirit gave me the words and music. During the pandemic two years ago,  it was  impressed in my heart to release the sound because people need to be encouraged and I started the journey. Here we are today with an album of songs of worship and encouragement.  

Is there a track on the album that is your favourite, why?

I have no favourite track because every song has a meaning to me.  There are stories behind them. 

What would you say are some of the main messages in the album?

The album is centred around my purpose in life. Worship and encouragement.  It is about  worship, hope in God, resilience in the midst of the storm, knowing we are not alone, God is with us always. He has a plan for us.

If you could work with any artist, who would it be and why?

Interesting question. It will be great to do some work with Yolanda Adams, CeCe Winans, Sinach or Nathaniel Bassey God willing. This is because we share in same passion and connect from the same source.

What has been one of your proudest moments in your journey so far?

The first time I received the physical copy of my CD. It was very fulfilling and I felt so proud of what God has done in my life.

Can you tell us anything about future plans for music/events?

Yes, I am working towards taking worship to my community. Let us have a glimpse of heaven on earth. I will commence some background work on my next single soon.
