UK gospel artists The Projects, amongst others, are set to support American singer and Pastor William McDowell for his “Sounds of Revival Gospel Concert” in West Bromwich on Saturday 25th February 2017. The Projects are a young, vibrant gospel group from Birmingham who formed in the late nineties.
Starting out as a group of young musicians and singers, the group has grown in number and ministry over the years. They now consist of 9 members, ranging in age and ability. Jonathan, Sian, Georgia, Chereena, Reisz and Jacqui have all come from a variety of backgrounds but are now the vocalists of the group. Multi-instrumentalists Graham, Stephen and Darren make up the band.
Their name derived from God’s greatest project being the creation of man and in Matthew 26:19-20 Jesus gave the great commission to be disciples of all nations. They believe God has given them a project to minister the gospel through their music.
Fast forward to 2015, The Projects were approached by GT’s Records to record and produce new gospel music together. This was new territory for the group as they’ve struggled to find a reliable producer who would respect their faith. However, after much negotiation, they are now signed to the record company and working towards their album.
2016 has been a prosperous and busy year for the band. They’ve spent the beginning of the year in the studio, then released their EP “I’ve Gotta Praise” in July, opening for the Birmingham leg of the Volney Morgan and New Ye tour in November and continuing to minister at local events in between, a lot has been packed into their year. Due to this success, their diary is already filling up for 2017!
Jonathan Campbell (visionary and lead vocalist of The Projects) said,
“Recently we’ve been praying and having discussions about how we are going to take our ministry into a higher place. Soon after we had this conversation, we were offered the opportunity by Rainbow Entertainment to be a part of the William McDowell concert. Although this will be the first high profile event and possibly our greatest challenge, we relish in the fact that we know we are ready to give out what God has invested in us.”
The Projects motto encourages to ‘Pursue your destiny and embrace your project’ as they believe every believer of Jesus Christ has also been given the same commission, to spread the gospel, meaning we all have a project to do in the Kingdom of God.
