The momentum around specialist genres in the UK charts is becoming clearer. This week, the Official Charts Company confirmed the launch of the Official Classical Chart, a new weekly chart created to highlight discovery and spotlight fresh classical releases making an impact across the UK.
It points to a wider shift in how genre-specific music is being recognized and measured within the official chart system. Rather than sitting on the edges, these sounds are being given proper space and visibility within the national music conversation.
Later this month, that momentum continues with the launch of the Official UK Christian & Gospel Singles Chart. Developed in partnership with AStepFWD, the chart marks a significant moment for Christian and Gospel music in the UK, providing a formal platform that reflects the genre’s growing reach across worship spaces, independent releases, and the wider digital landscape.
The announcement builds on conversations already taking place within the community, including its early confirmation at the StepFWD Awards in November. Together, these developments point to a season where faith-inspired music is no longer peripheral, but clearly part of the wider UK music ecosystem.
As the charts expand, so does the opportunity for artists and listeners to see this music properly recognised and documented on a national level.
