A Gospel Christmas Spectacular: LCGC Returns to Royal Albert Hall with Special Guests

The London Community Gospel Choir (LCGC) will be joined by some very special guests as they return to the Royal Albert Hall for their annual Christmas show on Friday, 20 December. The line-up will see the choir collaborating with a host of top names, including singer and motivational choir coach Clinton Jordan, vocalist and composer Mo Brandis and pop songstress Katie Coleman – with more to be announced. The show, as always, will be filled with uplifting festive tunes and gospel classics, as the band are joined by The Heritage Orchestra, who will be conducted by Tom Richards, and the London Community Gospel Choir band.

The group is led by Leonn Meade, choir co-founder Bazil Meade’s son, after Leonn stepped up as Creative and Musical Director in 2023. “The Royal Albert Hall is an iconic venue that we love coming back to every year, and Christmas is our favourite season to celebrate,” stated Leonn, speaking of the upcoming concert at the Royal Albert Hall. He continued, “It gives us the chance to come together with the full orchestra, five-piece band and show off our arrangements, musicality, and vocal abilities, as well as the chance to collaborate with some of our most-loved artists. But it’s the amount of people in the audience that come out to celebrate and join in with us to sing and play together that excites us most.”

Last year’s sold-out Christmas concert at the Hall marked the first year of Leonn’s Directorship and included soul icon Beverly Knight, singer-songwriter Dani Miché, R&B and jazz artist Tony Momrelle, and singer, musician, and producer JJ Rosa as special guests.

Other highlights for London Community Gospel Choir over the past year have been performing their first headlining concerts in China and Singapore, conducting Gospel singing workshops in the Solomon Islands in partnership with the British Council, being invited to perform their show as an artist at the Glastonbury Festival, then releasing a brand new single ‘Rather Be’ this summer. However, despite all their achievements and accolades, for Meade, nothing beats when the group gets to do what they love, performing music that is close to their hearts, expressing love and hope, created and arranged by them performing to new and familiar audiences, whether great or small.

Reverand Bazil Meade co-founded the London Community Gospel Choir (LCGC) in 1982, with their debut concert selling out in London in 1983. Since then, they have gone on to become Europe’s leading professional Gospel Choir and brand and one of the most in-demand choirs across the world because of their unique and uplifting sound. LCGC has been touring the world, performing as featured artists alongside some of the world’s most iconic recording super stars, before royalty and dignitaries.

Over their 42-year history, the choir have performed at some of the most prestigious events and venues in the UK, including the FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium, Glastonbury Festival, Live 8 and World Aids Festival, and have set a Guiness World Record for the world’s largest Mass Gospel Choir. The group have also performed and recorded with the likes of Tom Jones, Elton John, Madonna, Paul McCartney, Adele, Blur, The 1975, and Mariah Carey, among many others.
