Chandler Moore and Naomi Raine – two voices that have defined the sound of Maverick City Music – have announced that they are stepping away from the collective.
Both artists shared heartfelt statements, filled with gratitude and honesty about the journey so far and the fresh seasons ahead.
For Chandler, it was a “bittersweet decision.” He spoke of the past years as a time of locking in on what truly matters, a period marked by both challenges and fresh vision. “This transition isn’t easy,” he wrote, likening it to saying goodbye to something he had poured his whole heart into. Yet, his dream remains the same: to create music that makes people feel a little more human, a little more understood, and a little less alone.
Naomi’s reflection was just as moving. “After a lot of prayer and consideration, I’ve decided that now is the best time to share that I’m no longer a part of Maverick City Music,” she shared. What began as “a group of folks singing in a shed” became a movement she never could have imagined. She described the journey as life-changing, teaching her lessons about God, people, and herself, lessons she will carry forever. For Naomi, this is “not an ending, but a new beginning.”
The departure of Moore and Raine comes as a significant shift for Maverick City Music, which has grown into one of the most recognized and awarded gospel collectives worldwide, earning Grammys, Billboard charting albums, and international acclaim. Both artists played central roles in shaping its sound and identity.
Together, Chandler and Naomi have given the world more than songs; they’ve given us moments of encounter. From Jireh to Promises and beyond, their voices became a soundtrack of faith for millions across nations. Their time with Maverick City Music has been a testimony of how God can use ordinary people to create extraordinary impact.
The question has since lingered across social media: why did they leave? Moving on and starting a new calling shouldn’t raise such questions, but that’s one of the impacts of social media today. Yet no matter the reason that led to their departure, what I know and believe is this: it is a new season, a new assignment.
